Have you ever listened to rain sounds to try to calm down? Well, as it turns out, you could have just been listening to some beautiful, sizzling bacon.

Don’t believe me? Listen to this and tell me that isn’t rain.

@ginman.wav Cool sound tip about film and tv that I bet you didn’t know! #filmsound #soundspeeds #foley #rainsounds #fieldrecording ♬ original sound - ginman.wav

According to The Guardian, this is a long-understood trick in sound editing. The article also notes that the sound of cars revving their engines isn’t just the normal sound of a car, but a mix of engine sounds and a lion’s roar.

While this may be common, TikTok commenters weren’t too happy to hear that rain sounds weren’t Halal. “Watching tv isn’t vegan?” asked a user. “have I been falling asleep to frying chicken on Spotify?” questioned another. “I fall asleep to 10hrs of fried chicken on YouTube every night,” shared a third.

So if you’re one of the many people who fall asleep to rain sounds, you can also just leave a pan with bacon frying overnight for the same effect. Plus, you have the added benefit of waking up to perfectly crispy bacon (if your house somehow didn’t burn down in the process).
